Negative Affects of ChatGpt in Colleges and Universities

Chat Gpt has made its presence in everyday lives, even in college students now. There have been many controversies on whether it should be allowed or not. Personally, yes I do think it is a great invention and will save people a lot of time and effort. But at the same time it makes me kind of sad thinking about how much time and how much I have learned about the process of essay writing and it kind of makes me feel like it was all a waste of time and brain power. I think there are negative effects and some concerns about the potential future of students critical thinking skills and their ability to engage in meaningful discourse. As students increasingly rely on AI-generated responses, they may become less adept at formulating their own arguments and less confident in expressing their own ideas. The use of ChatGpt may also contribute to tons of plagiarism and academic dishonesty. Students may be tempted to use AI-generated responses to complete assignments or exams, leading to a lack of academic integrity and a devaluation of the educational experience. In addition, the use of ChatGpt may also perpetuate existing biases and inequalities in the education system. AI language models are only as unbiased as the data they are trained on, and if the data contains biases or discrimination, ChatGpt can replicate and reinforce these biases. Overall, while ChatGpt has the potential to enhance the educational experience, it is important to carefully consider the potential negative effects and to use it in a way that promotes critical thinking, academic integrity, and equality.
